Impacts from flooding continue. In fact, some areas will be dealing with flooding through the weekend and into next week as water will be slow to recede. Some rivers will remain above flood stage well into next week and some have yet to crest. Please continue to monitor Flood Warnings for your area for the most up to date information. The upcoming Mother’s Day weekend will start on a cool and cloudy note, but should gradually improve by Sunday. In fact, Sunday looks like the best day of the weekend.
Isolated storms may impact portions of northern and central Kansas this evening and tonight. Though storm initiation will be conditional, any storms that do develop will have the potential to be strong or marginally severe in central Kansas with nickel to quarter sized hail and wind gusts to around 60 mph.
Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected late this afternoon and evening across portions of central, south central and southeast Kansas. The greatest threat will be across south central and southeast Kansas, where hail up to golf-ball size and damaging winds to 65 mph will be possible. Locally heavy rainfall may also result in minor lowland or urban flooding this evening.
