Freezing Rain, Sleet and Snow Expected Tuesday

The early morning and the morning commute for Tuesday looks to be messy and potentially dangerous. A mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow is possible across the area early in the morning just before the morning commute. This could create slippery conditions for the morning commute. Give yourself extra time to get to you locations during this time. Areas south of U.S. Highway 54 will likely have more rain than freezing precipitation while areas along the north I-70 corridor will see more snow than freezing rain in the morning. This will change as the morning progresses as the snow will change over to freezing rain or sleet along the I-70 corridor.

Tuesday afternoon, the freezing rain and sleet will change over to all rain from south to north. By the early afternoon, most of South Central and Southeast Kansas will have changed over to rain. Areas in Central and Northern Kansas will still be dealing with some sleet and freezing rain but this expected to change over to all rain by the late afternoon before the next front arrives during the night Tuesday and into Wednesday.
