BENNINGTON – USD 240 Twin Valley Schools has announced their schools will be closed the week of March 16-20 at the recommendation of the Kansas State Department of Education.
The closure includes schools in Bennington and Tescott. Students are tentatively scheduled to return Monday, March 23.
The full statement is below:
“Attention all Twin Valley Students, Staff and Patrons.
As per the recommendation of the Kansas State Department of Education Commissioner, Dr. Randy Watson, with the support of Governor Kelly’s office and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, we will be cancelling school for all students for the week of March 16-20. This includes all activities and events.
There will be an assessment by state, local, and federal officials during the course of the week as to how we will proceed the week of March 23 and beyond.
You will also find these recommendations at the KSDE and an announcement from the Governer’s office should also be coming some time soon in support of these measures.
Please know that this decision was not made in haste and was done for the safety of all involved during this pandemic situation.
We also encourage all families to do the best they can to practice the social distancing and hygiene measures that are readily available through the KDHE and CDC websites.
In regards to staff, only regular maintenance and custodial staff will be asked to report to work as normal tomorrow.
All other staff will receive instructions and information some time tomorrow from my office as to what to do in regards to reporting.
In regards to staff, we have many details to work through, so please be patient with us as it relates to getting those details addressed.
Staff, please feel free to email me or your respective principals with concerns or questions you might have.
My office will be open tomorrow during regular hours.
In addition, the regularly schedule BOE meeting will take place tomorrow evening at 6 pm.
