UPDATE: The Statewide Amber Alert for Jace Brunt has been cancelled.
At 6:30 p.m., it was reported that the boy’s father, Joshua Brunt, 25, and his girlfriend, Jasmine Brunt, 24, had turned themselves in and are now both in custody.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation says the boy was forcibly taken from his mother by his non-custodial father just before 1 p.m. Friday afternoon.
An Amber Alert was issued due to the actions of Joshua Brunt in his girlfriend, who reportedly used a firearm and mace when they took the child.
News media outlets in the Kansas City say the boy was safely turned over to police early Friday evening.
A statewide Amber Alert has been issued for a child that was taken from a Kansas City, Kansas home early Friday afternoon.
At approximately 12:53 p.m., Jace Brunt, 2, was forcibly taken from his biological mother by his non-custodial father. The father allegedly used a firearm to force compliance and the girlfriend allegedly used mace/OC spray during the event. The violent actions at the scene indicate that Jace is in imminent danger.
The suspects left the 1700 of block of S. 35th Street in Kansas City, Kansas, heading south in a white, newer style Dodge Charger, with damage on the rear end and rear driver’s side.
Jace Brunt is 2 years old. He has short, fuzzy, light brown hair with a pony tail on top and was wearing pajama pants and a dark t-shirt or tank top and no shoes.
Suspect number one is Joshua Brunt, 25. He is 6’1″ with a muscular build. He was last seen wearing red shorts and a tank top. He has tattoos on arms and neck.
Suspect number two is Jasmine Brunt, 24. She is 5’8″ and has brown hair with long braids in a pony tail. She has a slender build and was last seen wearing a black spaghetti strap tank top and green basketball shorts.
