UPDATE: Shooting Case Becomes Homicide, Third Arrest Made

A shooting that occurred in Salina early Monday morning in now a homicide and a third arrest has been made in the case.

Police say Camilo Renaldo Ramirez, 25, passed away at approximately 1 p.m. Tuesday in a Wichita hospital. He was found shot in the 500 block of E. Iron Avenue just after 4 a.m. Monday. The delay in reporting Ramirez’s death was due to his family’s desire to donate his body organs.

During the course of the week, the Salina Police Department continued to investigate this active homicide case. As a result of the leads and other investigative information, a third arrest was made in the case.

Police arrested Kiera Rayne Stewart, 25, Salina, on Wednesday. She was booked into the Saline County Jail on the following requesting charges:
  • Felony Murder
  • Attempted Aggravated Robbery
Earlier this week, police arrested Jamie Leos, Jr., 24, and Juan Doroteo Morales, Jr., 34, both of Salina, in connection with Ramirez’s death.

Leos was arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, felony animal cruelty, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and other narcotic-related charges.

Morales was arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, felony animal cruelty and felon in possession of a firearm.

Police say Ramirez’s dog was also killed during the shooting. Charges filed against Leos or Morales including the killing of the dog.

As a result of Ramirez’s passing, it is expected that the attempted first-degree murder charges will be upgraded accordingly for both Leos and Morales.

This case continues to be an active homicide investigation and no further information is being made available at this time.
