Salina Police say they are investigating the slashing of an above-ground swimming pool at a west Salina residence early Wednesday morning.

Clifford Dickey, 49, told officers that he was awakened by his security system at approximately 3:50 a.m. Wednesday, and upon checking his security cameras, observed a white male entering the backyard of his residence in the 900 block of Seneca. Dickey told police the man was on the north side of his home, and that after a few minutes, the intruder exited the backyard and left the property.

After the man left, Dickey went outside and didn't find anything out of the ordinary at that time. He went back outside later in the day and discovered five 1.5-inch-wide slits cut in the pool.

Dickey’s security video showed a white male wearing a white shirt, green and white hat, and dark pants in the yard. The man had a large, fixed-blade knife in a sheath on his belt.

Damage to the pool has been estimated at $2,100.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
