The Salina Liberty will face the Omaha Beef Saturday night in a matchup of the CIF’s top two teams.

The first place Liberty (8-0) have already clinched a first round home playoff game and will look to clinch the #1 overall seed and home field advantage throughout the postseason with a win over the second place Beef (5-3).

This will be the second meeting between the two teams this season. Back on April 10, the Liberty defeated Omaha, 39-14, in a game in which the Liberty were held to their lowest point total of the season thus far and it has been the only game so far this season in which the Liberty failed to score 51 or more points. The Liberty defense held Omaha to just 14 points that night, the fewest points Salina has allowed in a game this season.

Both teams have played well defensively all season and Saturday’s rematch could see more of the same.

Salina has been without their starting quarterback Tyrie Adams, who is recovering from a knee injury. Both he and backup Mitch Kidd, who has been phenomenal in relief of Adams, will be available Saturday night, according to Liberty Head Coach Heron O’Neal. As far as who will start will be a game time decision.

Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. at Ralston Arena in Ralston, Nebraska. The game can be seen on YouTube Live (
) or listen live on KINA Radio, 910 AM and 107.5 FM. Live game updates can also be found on the ‘Salina Liberty Faithful’ Facebook page!
