The Heritage Commission is looking for individuals to serve on their board! The commission identifies structures or sites of architectural, historical significance and recommends to the City Commission on items protected by Heritage Conservation designation. They issue “Certificates of Appropriateness” for exterior alterations, consult with owners to preserve landmarks and promote historic preservation and restoration. The commission consists of six adult members who reside …within the city limits, a planning commission liaison, and two Youth of Board members (15-20 years of age). Member shall include, but are not limited to: an archeologist, a landscape architect, an architectural historian or urban planner; an architect, a historian, a real estate or legal professional, and two citizens-at-large. The commission meets quarterly on the last Wednesday of January, April, July and October at 4 p.m. in Room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 W.
