Two Injured in Single Vehicle I-70 Crash

SALINE COUNTY – Two people were taken to the hospital after a single vehicle crash on Interstate 70 in Saline County late Saturday afternoon.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol accident report, Scott J. Lucas, 56, Kaysville, Utah, was driving a 2013 Ford Fusion eastbound, about a mile west of the Solomon Road exit, when the vehicle left the roadway to the left.

The Ford then entered the median, struck the paved crossing and went airborne, and overturned at least one time before coming to rest on its wheels facing east in the median.

Lucas, and a passenger, Thomas F. Peek, 33, Kaysville, Utah, were both transported to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment of minor injuries.

Both men were properly restrained at the time of the crash, which occurred at 3:13 p.m., according to the KHP report.
