Salina Teen Causes Injury Crash in Ellsworth County

ELLSWORTH COUNTY – A Salina teenager escaped injury in a two vehicle crash that authorities say he caused late Friday afternoon in rural Ellsworth County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Wayne Richard Elder, 14, was driving a 2001 Ford F-250 Super Duty pickup southbound on K-14 Highway, about 4/10th of a mile north of Interstate 70, when he became distracted, went left of center, overcorrected, spun out of control, and struck a northbound 2020 Dodge Challenger driven by Stacie Lea Davis, 45, Ellsworth.

Davis was taken by ambulance to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment of a suspected serious injury. Elder was not injured.

Both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the crash, which occurred at about 4:11 p.m., according to the KHP report.
