Kansas Governor Orders Flags to be Flown at Half-staff Sunday in Honor of Leavenworth County Firefighter

TOPEKA – In accordance with Executive Order 20-30, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff on Sunday, November 15 until sunset in honor of Easton Township firefighter Johnny Ivison, Jr., according to a media release.

“This brave Kansan lost his life in the line of duty, volunteering to help his fellow firefighters,” Governor Laura Kelly said. “My heart is with the wife and sons of Ivison, and I want to express my condolences to them. On behalf of the state of Kansas, we are thankful for his service.”

Ivison was killed in a crash November 8 while responding to a structure fire in the Leavenworth County community of Easton. The Leavenworth County Sheriff’s said Ivison was northbound on 231st Street, south of Easton, when his pickup truck left the roadway and rolled several times. He was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Ivison leaves behind a wife and two young boys.
