Heavy Rainfall Possible Sunday Evening through Sunday Night

Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected to develop along the Interstate 70 corridor late Sunday afternoon or Sunday evening and then develop and move southeastward across central Kansas Sunday night. Where thunderstorms form, very heavy rainfall is expected to occur, and may lead to rises on creeks and rivers. Flash flooding may also occur as well.

A Flash Flood Watch has been issued from Sunday evening through Monday morning.

Sunday – A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 95. South southwest wind 9 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.

Sunday Night – Showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 7 p.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 70. South southwest wind 6 to 11 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Monday – Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. Calm wind becoming north northeast 5 to 8 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Monday Night – A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. Northeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Tuesday – A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 82.

Tuesday Night – A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64.

Wednesday – A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 84.

Wednesday Night – A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 66.
