Looking for an opportunity to give back to our community? Consider serving on the Business Improvement District Design Review Board. This quasi-judicial board is designed to preserve property and historic value of property through the issuance of certificates of compatibility for proposed businesses in the downtown district. The board advises and makes recommendations to the City Commission or the BID Board of Advisors on matters referred to it. The Design Review Board also i…ssues “Notice of Decision” on signage and other matters referred by other duly constituted city boards, commissions and committees. The board includes seven adult members with at least one representative from a business within the BID, a property owner within the BID, and a design professional. Members meet as needed, usually on the second and fourth Thursday of the month at 4 p.m. in Room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 W. Ash St. Individuals who are interested in applying for this board should do so by August 9. To view boards with vacancies, visit http://www.salina-ks.gov/boards.
