Liberty Quarterback Named Offensive Player of the Week

SALINA – The Salina Liberty’s starting quarterback has earned weekly honors from the Champions Indoor Football league. On Thursday, Drew Jackson was named the CIF’s Offensive Player of the Week. Jackson completed 21 of 33 passes for 274 yard and 5 touchdowns while guiding the Liberty to their first win of the season, a decisive 65-45 victory over the Sioux City Bandits. With the win, the Liberty improved their record to 1-1 on the season. They will next face the Texas Revolution (1-0) this Saturday night at the Tony’s Pizza Events Center. Kickoff is set for 6:35 p.m.

Salina Liberty Announces Return of Isiah Barfield

SALINA – A familiar face is returning to the Salina Liberty roster. On Thursday, the team announced the signing of defensive back and return specialist Isiah Barfield. Barfield, a staple of the indoor game in Salina, will compete in his seventh season. He was part of the Salina Bombers during their three year run in Salina and will now begin his fourth consecutive season with the Liberty. Salina Liberty, CIF Releases 2019 Season Schedule

SALINA – The Salina Liberty and Champions Indoor Football released the 2019 season schedule Tuesday afternoon. According to the league, each of the eight member teams will play a total of twelve games consisting of six home and six away games with two conferences. The northern conference will feature Salina, Wichita, Sioux City and Omaha while the southern conference will be comprised of Oklahoma, Duke City, Amarillo and Texas. A total of four teams will qualify for the playoffs consisting of each conference winner along with each conference’s second place team advancing to post-season play. Salina Liberty Announces New Chief Operations Officer

SALINA – Salina’s indoor football team has a new Chief Operations Officer. On Sunday, the team’s ownership group announced the selection of Francis Flax as the teams’ new Chief Operations Officer. He will be responsible for financial and day-to-day operations of the team as well as working closely with Head Coach Heron O’Neal on player and personnel matters. Flax previously held the position of General Manager for the team. He is well known in the Salina community and was highly a successful basketball coach at Brown Mackie College. SALINA – The Salina Liberty have been named the 2018 CIF Darlene Jones Franchise of the Year. The award is one of four to be won by the team, the league announced Friday. This Franchise of the Year Award, named in honor of the late Darlene Jones, the first league commissioner in CIF history, is given to the best overall franchise during the season. WICHITA – The Salina Liberty reclaimed the driver’s seat in the CIF North Division with a come from behind win over the Wichita Force, 56-47, at Intrust Bank Arena Saturday night. The Salina Liberty has added two more weapons to their line up of outstanding wide receivers. On Tuesday, the team announced the signings of Hussein Scott and Julian Stafford. Hussien “Hi-C” Scott is a 5’9”, 190 pound wide receiver from Tucson, Arizona. He was an all-around great athlete in high school lettering in football, basketball, baseball, and track and field.
