WICHITA – The Salina Liberty reclaimed the driver’s seat in the CIF North Division with a come from behind win over the Wichita Force, 56-47, at Intrust Bank Arena Saturday night. KU Dismisses Athletic Director, Salina Native Sheahon Zenger

LAWRENCE – The University of Kansas has dismissed Athletic Director and Salina native Sheahon Zenger citing a “lack of progress” within the department as the reason for the dismissal. Chancellor Douglas A. Girod made the announcement in a statement on the University’s website Monday morning. Zenger, who was born in Salina, had served as KU’s Athletic Director since 2011. K-State Polytechnic Collaborates With Salina Liberty to Fly Drones During Games

SALINA – The Kansas State University Polytechnic Campus is expanding its unmanned aircraft systems capabilities to now include sports and entertainment operations with the help of a professional indoor football team. The campus’s Applied Aviation Research Center, which is a hub for UAS exploration, is collaborating with the Salina Liberty to bring drone technology to the team’s home games this season. Hussien “Hi-C” Scott is a 5’9”, 190 pound wide receiver from Tucson, Arizona. He was an all-around great athlete in high school lettering in football, basketball, baseball, and track and field. Offensive lineman Kelvin McCoy, offensive and defensive lineman Brandon King, offensive and defensive lineman Dana Harris Jr. and defensive lineman and linebacker Ronald Buford Jr. have all been signed by the team. Salina Sirens to Host Roller Derby Boot Camp

SALINA – The Salina Sirens will host a roller derby boot camp beginning January 8. Every Monday and Wednesday, from January 8 through February 28, a beginners roller derby boot camp will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Kenwood Hall on Bob Flaherty Drive. Registration is $45 dollars. The Salina Liberty has gotten “defensive” with three new roster additions for the 2018 season. On Thursday, the team announced the additions of Marrion Holmes, Eric Johnson and Kivar Thurmon. Marrion Holmes is a 6’1″, 317 pound defensive lineman from De Funkiak Springs, Florida. Holmes attended college at the University of West Georgia. South-Central Basketball Games Moved to School Gyms for 2017-2018 Season

USD 305 has moved this season’s Salina South-Salina Central junior varsity and varsity basketball games from the Tony’s Pizza Events Center to each school’s home gymnasium for the 2017-2018 season.
