The Salina Liberty will be looking for their fourth victory of the season tonight when the Omaha Beef pay a visit to the Tony’s Pizza Events Center. Kickoff is at 6:35 p.m.

The Liberty, 3-1, will also be looking to avenge their only loss of the season, a 42-37 loss at Omaha on March 10. Salina has won two in a row since the loss and is currently one game out of first place behind undefeated Sioux City.

Last week, the Liberty coasted past the visiting Dallas Marshals, 55-16. Leading the way for Salina was Dominique Carson, who carried the ball 11 times for 77 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also caught 3 balls for 40 yards and another touchdown. It was also a solid night for Liberty linebacker Travis Taylor, who had a CIF league record 5 sacks on the night and a total of 6 tackles for loss to lead the Libery defense.

Tonight’s game is the CIF Game of the Week and will be available to watch live on Pluto TV on Channel 222.

Tonight is also a special night for the Liberty as they kick off their 2018 “Minor Setback Major Comeback” campaign with a fundraising benefit for the family of Salina Central High School student Greg Gibson, who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a cancerous bone tumor. Tonight, Liberty players will be wearing special edition jerseys, which will be auctioned off after the game with all proceeds going to help the Gibson Family. The team hopes to raise $1,000.

Tickets are still available for tonight’s game at the Tony’s Pizza Events Center box office, by phone at 888-826-SHOW or online at

In other CIF action tonight, Sioux City (4-0) visits Wichita (2-3) and Texas (0-4) travels to Duke City (3-1). On Saturday morning, CIF officials announced that another game scheduled for this evening between the Amarillo Venom and the Dallas Marshals has been postponed for unspecified reasons. No reschedule date has been announced. This is the second Dallas Marshals home game to be postponed this season. “The CIF executive committee is evaluating all options to determine what course of action is best for the future of the league and the Dallas Marshals,” the league said in a statement. “The league office anticipates having a formal announcement early next week.”
