First Friday programming starts at 4 p.m. with the open exhibit of “Castle of Northern Kingdom” at the Salina Public Library’s Gallery 708 (301 W. Elm St.). Also at 4 p.m., Art at the Nook features Randy Clark with his show “Embracing the Process” at The Flower Nook (208 E. Iron Ave.). At 4:30 p.m., the Visual Voices Gallery presents an artist reception for the work of Jim Netter, with music by Jonathan Hess, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (901 Beatrice St.). At 5… p.m., Harley Elliott’s work will be on display, with a reception at Peaceful Body Wellness Retreat (120 N. Santa Fe Ave.). Also, between 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., the Salina Art Center is open, showing “Departures” and special performances from Lori Brack, reading from her work “Post Script,” and a video installation by Christopher Riley (242 S. Santa Fe Ave.). Between 5 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. come to “Beyond DiverCITY” at the Salina Fieldhouse (140 N. 5th St.). This is an exciting celebration that brings community members together to celebrate diversity in the arts and gain a collective sense of belonging by learning from and enjoying everyone around each other. The arts can transcend boundaries and show us how much more we have in common than we think. There will be music hosted by Cash Hollistah, dance performances by the FLASH Dancers, Mexican Folk Dancers, Folkdanslag, the Phi Beta Sigma Step Team, and an interactive art demonstration by Priti Gulati Cox. Food will also be available to the first 200 attendees. Between 7 p.m. – 9:15 p.m., with the purchase of a ticket, “All That Jazz” is happening at the Salina Country Club (2101 E. Country Club Rd.). This is an evening of live jazz music benefiting the Kansas Wesleyan University Music Department. Jim Turner’s photographs will also be on view at this location. With the purchase of a ticket, the Salina Community Theatre’s current show “Lost in Yonkers” begins at 7:30 p.m. (303 E. Iron). At 8 p.m., Tony Bowell plays at The Voo (249 N. Santa Fe Ave.).
