First Case of Coronavirus Identified in McPherson County

MCPHERSON – The McPherson County Health Department on Thursday evening announced the first case of coronavirus (COVID-19) in McPherson County.

According to a media release, testing sent to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s laboratories identified the positive case.

The case involves a female patient above the age of 70 with known recent cruise ship travel. The patient is currently recovering in isolation at home. The McPherson County Health Department is working to identify any close contacts of the individual and those who were exposed will be contacted as soon as possible.

“We will be monitoring these contacts for fever and respiratory symptoms,” the McPherson County Health Department said in the release. “No further information about the patient will be released.”
