UPDATE: Arrest Made in McPherson Homicide

UPDATE: McPherson Police have made an arrest in the homicide of a McPherson man. According to media release, officers were sent a home in the 500 block of Eshelman on Friday after a 911 caller said a friend was lying on the floor of his house, possibly deceased. Officers immediately responded and the caller directed them to the house in question. The officers entered the home and discovered the resident, identified as Steve Carlson, 58, deceased. Mexican Citizen Indicted for Unlawfully Possessing Firearm in Lincoln County

A Mexican citizen has been indicted on charges of unlawfully possessing a firearm in the United States following his arrest in Lincoln County. Cesar Humberto Melandez-Morales, 28, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm while in the United States. The crime is alleged to have occurred April 5, 2017, in Lincoln County, Kansas. If convicted, Melandez-Morales faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000. The Kansas Highway Patrol and ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations investigated. KANSAS CITY, KAN. – A federal grand jury here today returned additional charges against a Lindsborg man accused of traveling to a foreign country to have sex with minors, U.S. Attorney Tom Beall said. Two people were hospitalized after a single vehicle accident in Dickinson County early Wednesday evening. The Kansas Highway Patrol said Alva G. Eisenman, 69, of Athens, Georgia, was driving a 2016 Chrysler westbound on Interstate 70 near mile marker 286, just west of Chapman, when she drove off the road into the north ditch and up an embankment through a fence. One person was taken to a McPherson hospital after the vehicle she was riding in struck a deer Saturday evening. The Kansas Highway Patrol said Barbara Camara, 30, of Hays, was northbound in a 2008 Chevy Malibu on Interstate 135 at about 8:50 p.m., when a deer came out of the ditch near mile post 47, about 1 mile north of Moundridge. Five Hospitalized After McPherson County Accident

Five people were hospitalized after a two vehicle accident in McPherson early Sunday evening. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2007 Nissan Murano driven by Jeremy J. Swift, 37, of Loveland, Colorado, had pulled into a rest area on Interstate 135 at around 5 p.m. When the vehicle pulled back onto the interstate, it began traveling south, weaving in and out of traffic, and straddling the center line. Bennington Woman Hospitalized After Saline County Accident

A Bennington woman was taken to a Salina hospital on Friday after a single vehicle accident caused by wet conditions. According to the Saline County Sheriff’s Office, Kathy Hartley-Stohs, 52, was northbound in the 6100 block of N. Ohio at about noon in her 2005 Chevy Siverado. Stohs said wet conditions caused her to lose control of the truck and it slid off the road. The truck then sank into the mud, stopping in a ditch. Ribbon Cutting to Mark Completion of I-135 Interchange in McPherson County

Construction on a new interchange on I-135 and Mohawk Rd. north of the city of McPherson will soon be completed and the interchange opened to traffic. In celebration of its completion a ribbon cutting will be conducted on Tuesday, April 4 at 1:30 p.m. The ceremony will take place on the bridge portion of the new interchange.
