Wintry Mix Expected Tonight Through Thursday Afternoon

A wintry mix is expected to develop across the area this evening, with a transition during the night to predominately freezing rain and freezing drizzle. The greatest ice accumulations are expected across southeast Kansas, where amounts around two tenths of an inch are forecast. Allow extra time for your Thursday morning commute.

Snow is expected to develop late this afternoon near the Oklahoma border and spread north this evening. The snow will change to a wintry mix with sleet and freezing rain during the night. One to two inches of snow and sleet are forecast. The majority of the snow and sleet should occur west of the Kansas Turnpike before midnight, but will linger past midnight along the I-35 and I-70 corridors. The highest amounts are expected in a swath from near Salina to Hutchinson to Harper. Allow extra time for your Thursday morning commute.
