Strong south winds will produce very high grassland fire danger across most of the area Sunday with extreme values possible over central Kansas on Sunday afternoon. Outdoor burning is highly discouraged!

West to northwest winds sustained from 30 to 40 mph, with gusts around 45 mph, will cause an extremely dangerous grassland fire situation on Monday, especially in much of Central Kansas along, and north, of I-70. Red Flag Warnings will likely be required for nearly all areas. Grassland burning should be avoided!

  • Tonight – Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. Breezy, with a south wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.
  • Sunday – Partly sunny, with a high near 68. Breezy, with a south wind 20 to 26 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph.
  • Sunday Night – A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 24 mph becoming west northwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
  • Monday – Sunny, with a high near 56. Windy, with a west northwest wind 20 to 25 mph increasing to 27 to 32 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 43 mph.
