UPDATE: Truck Driver Escapes Injury After Truck Filled With Batteries Tips Over

UPDATE: The driver of a semi was not seriously injured when the truck he was driving overturned Monday evening.

According to the Saline County Sheriff’s Office, Milton Adee, 50, of Miltonvale, was driving the semi westbound just after 7:30 p.m., when he attempted to turn north onto an access road at Exide Batteries, 413 E. Berg Road.

The semi’s trailer was loaded with approximately 35,000 pounds of unsecured batteries. The load shifted when the semi turned and the truck tipped over onto its side.

The Salina Fire Department’s HazMat Unit was dispatched to the scene to assist with the clean up of diesel fuel as well as battery acid, which was leaking from several damaged batteries.

Adee suffered some minor cuts and scrapes, but refused treatment at the scene.

A damage estimate has not yet been made available.

Emergency crews have been sent to Exide Batteries, 413 E. Berg Road, in response to an accident involving a semi.

According to reports, the semi, which is carrying a load of batteries, is on its side.

The driver is not believed to be seriously injured.

The accident occurred at about 7:35 p.m.
