UPDATE: Salina Driver Escapes With Minor Injuries After Single Vehicle Accident

UPDATE: A Salina man escaped with only minor injuries after a single vehicle accident late Thursday evening.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the driver was northbound on Interstate 135 at about 9 p.m., when he fell asleep at the wheel. His vehicle struck a guardrail and came to rest in the northbound lanes, just south of the Schilling Road overpass.

The driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital, according to the KHP.

Northbound traffic was reduced to one lane for about an hour while emergency crews worked to clear the scene.

First responders are on the scene of a accident on Interstate 135, just south of the Schilling Road overpass.

The accident occurred just after 9 p.m.

The Kansas Highway Patrol has confirmed to The Salina Scoop that only one vehicle was involved in the accident and injuries are said to be minor.

Law enforcement has shut down one lane of northbound traffic while the scene is being cleared. More information as it becomes available.

UPDATE: At 10 p.m. I-135 was fully reopened to traffic.
