UPDATE: An Ardmore, Oklahoma man was injured in a single vehicle accident on Interstate 135 near Salina early Thursday evening.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Leonard S. Vosmus was driving a semi south on I-135 near the Schilling Road exit at about 5:10 p.m., when the semi hydro-planed during a thunderstorm. The semi struck the guard rail on the west side of the road, jack-knifed, and came to rest in the roadway, blocking both southbound lanes.
The southbound lanes were closed from Magnolia Road to Water Well Road while emergency crews worked to clear the scene.
Vosmus was transported by ambulance to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment of his injuries.
He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the Highway Patrol.
Emergency crews have been sent to mile post 89 near Schilling Road on Interstate 135 in response to a semi crash that occurred just before 5:15 p.m.
Early reports indicate that the semi has rolled over and is currently blocking both southbound lanes. Southbound traffic is being diverted at Magnolia Road.
