UPDATE: No Injuries, No Damage After Electrical Shortage

UPDATE: There were no injuries or damage caused by an apparent electrical shortage near a west Salina business Wednesday evening.

Salina Fire Marshal Roger Williams tells The Salina Scoop that firefighters were dispatched to the area of Broadway and South after a police officer in the area observed smoke near Maggie Mae’s, 409 S. Broadway, and CompuDoc, 417 S. Broadway.

Williams said Westar Energy was called to the scene and power was shut down while firefighters worked to determine the cause of the smoke. He said it appeared that some type of old sign that had been buried in the area, along with wet conditions, may have have caused the shortage.

There was no damage to either business and no injuries, according to Williams.

Salina firefighters have been sent to the 400 block of S. Broadway on a report of a possible electrical issue.

According to reports, smoke from a possible electrical shortage was seen coming from underground near Maggie Mae’s and The Arena at around 7 p.m.

No futher details are immediately known. More as it becomes available…

  1. Why not mention Compudoc? It is right in between the two businesses, and was where the main concern for the electrical fire was.

    1. My apologies. CompuDoc wasn’t listed in the initial dispatch. I’m still working on a follow up to this story.
