Three Hospitalized After Two Vehicle Accident in Dickinson County

DICKINSON COUNTY – Three people were hospitalized after a two vehicle accident on Interstate 70 in Dickinson County late Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Lisa R. Simmons, 52, Vassar, was driving a 2007 Ford pickup eastbound on I-70 near mile post 282, about a mile east of Mink Road, just after 4:30 p.m.

Simmons was traveling at 55 miles-per-hour while towing an antique passenger car, when her towing unit was rear-ended by a 2002 Ford SUV driven by Dale E. Vondell, 58, Junction City, which was also towing another vehicle.

Simmons, Vondell, and a passenger in the SUV, Dorothy V. Vondell, 61, Junction City, were all taken to Geary Community Hospital in Junction City for treatment of injuries, the extent of which were not immediately known.

All three were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, according to the Highway Patrol.
