Santa Fe Overhead Structure Removal Begins Tuesday

SALINA – On Tuesday, August 7, Smoky Hill Construction will be closing Santa Fe Avenue one block at a time to remove overhead structures throughout the evening beginning at 6 p.m.

The block between Mulberry and Walnut will be closed at 6 p.m. Upon the conclusion of the first removal, they will move one block north and close the street between Walnut and Iron at 8 p.m. The final block between Iron and Ash will be closed at 12 a.m. (midnight). Once the final overhead structure is removed and stowed, traffic will return to normal.

All businesses affected will be able to get in and out of their parking areas.

The removal of these structures is part of the City of Salina’s Downtown Streetscape improvement project.

  1. Will this interfere with the Tri Rivers Fair parade?

    1. The parade has been moved to 7th Street due to the ongoing Santa Fe project.

  2. Are they putting them back at a later date or are making new ones
