Saline County Food Establishment and Lodging Inspections, March 3-9, 2018

Food Establishment and Lodging Inspections conducted in Saline County by the Kansas Department of Agriculture’s Division of Food Safety and Lodging from March 3 through March 9, 2018.

Food safety and lodging inspections are unannounced, and inspection results represent only those conditions found in the establishment at the time of the inspection.

– No violations.

Burger King, 2650 S. 9th St. (March 5) Licensing Inspection
– No violations.

Burger King, 316 E. Iron Ave. (March 5) Licensing Inspection
– Stored as clean onion slicer had dried on food debris on the side and the blades. Corrected on site: rewashed and sanitized.

Cozy Inn, 108 N. 7th St. (March 7) Routine Inspection
– Bottle of insulin stored inside walk-in cooler inside cardboard box. Corrected on site: put bottle of insulin inside zip type bag.

Exit 14, 512 Maple St. – Gypsum (March 8) Routine Inspection
– Raw shell eggs stored on shelf above frozen ready-to-eat prime rib inside True reach-in cooler. No leakage and no follow up due. Corrected on site: moved ready to eat above raw shell eggs.
– Pan of gravy inside white reach-in cooler not dated when made and pan of green beans inside True reach-in cooler not dated when made. Per person in charge, made on March 4. Container of chili dated February 28 inside True reach-in cooler. Per person in charge, made and frozen on February 28 and taken out of freezer on March 6. Corrected on site: items dated appropriately, person in charge educated.
– Ham slices inside True reach-in cooler dated March 1. Per person in charge, opened on March 2 and was misdated. Hot dogs inside True reach-in cooler not dated when opened. Per person in charge, opened on March 6. Corrected on site: date marked appropriately and educated.
– Can of nacho cheese dated as opened on March 1. Pan of cooked peas dated as made on March 1. Both items inside True reach-in cooler. Corrected on site: voluntary destruction and educated.
– No asterisks on menu that discloses and reminds undercooked foods are a risk. Corrected on site: placed asterisks by hamburgers on the menu.
– Slicer had dried on food on the food contact surface. Corrected on site: moved to warewashing.
– No detectable sanitizer in manual warewashing sanitizing vat with dishware inside. Corrected on site: instructed to make with chlorine versus quaternay ammonia to 50 ppm chlorine.
– Buckets containing sanitizer were not labeled with common name. Per person in charge, buckets contained sanitizer. Corrected on site: labeled as sanitzer.
– Paint pen stored above toasters. No leakage and no follow up due. Corrected on site: moved paint pen to chemical storage area.
– Bottle of pain reliever stored above clean dishware. Corrected on site: moved to separate area.

Kennedy Early Learning Center, 700 Jupiter Ave. (March 6) Routine Inspection
– No violations.

Knights Inn, 222 E. Diamond Dr. (March 5) Modified Complaint Inspection
– Trash found inside the ice bucket in Room 202.
– Smoke detector in Room 103 missing battery. Smoke detectors in Rooms 121 and 216 had dead batteries.
– Ceilng tile missing above vanity in Room 103.
– Handicap seat in shower of Room 103 had an accumulation of soap scum on the under side of the seat.
– Refrigerator in Room 103 had an accumulation of mold on the interior.

Walmart #558, 2900 S. 9th St. (March 5) Modified Complaint Inspection
– No violations.
