Saline County Food Establishment and Lodging Inspections, January 6-12, 2018

Food Establishment and Lodging Inspections conducted in Saline County by the Kansas Department of Agriculture’s Division of Food Safety and Lodging from January 6 through January 12, 2018.

Food safety and lodging inspections are unannounced, and inspection results represent only those conditions found in the establishment at the time of the inspection.

– No violations.

Dillons Store #74, 2350 Planet Ave. (January 8) Routine Inspection
– One package of stuffed peppers in retail meat department inside reach-in cooler. Corrected on site: person in charge removed package.
– In retail area of the meat department, there was raw bacon next to and touching a package of ready to eat sausage gravy and ready to eat sausage links. Corrected on site: black dividers placed between (no leakage detected).
– In the deli department, deli meat had temperature of 46 degrees F and cheese had temperature of 45 degrees F, both items sliced at 9 a.m. on day of inspection then bagged, labeled and sealed in zip lock bags and placed in self-serve reach in cooler, both items were out of temperature at 11:06 a.m. (less than four hours). Corrected on site: bags of meat and cheese were placed in walk-in cooler until temperatures reached 33 degrees F.
– At the deli department prep table, sliced white American cheese had temperature of 44 degrees F, sliced turkey breast had temperature of 45 degrees, cut lettuce leaves had temperature of 60 degrees and cream cheese had temperature of 58 degrees F were out of temperature. Employee said she pulled them out of the coolers at 9 a.m. on day of inspection. Temperatures taken at 9:44 a.m. (less than four hours). Corrected on site: placed into walk-in cooler to cool before sandwich making is resumed.
– On the salad bar, diced tomatoes had temperature of 46 degree F. Person in charge said the tomatoes had been placed there around 7:00 a.m. on date of inspection. Temperature taken at 11:20 a.m. (less than four hours). Corrected on site: discarded by person in charge. Note: less than 1% of items out of temperature.
– In the deli department, in the self-serve reach in cooler located in the middle of the aisle, there were packages of made on site chipped beef and cream cheese mix dated January 7 and use by January 14. Corrected on site: items re-labeled with correct date. Person in charge notified corporate of date mark discrepancy in label machine.
– In the deli department, in the self-serve reach in cooler located in the middle of the aisle, there were packages of commercially produced nacho cheese dated January 7 and use by January 14. – In the Chinese kitchen, there were food containers stored as clean with dried food debris on the food contact surfaces. Corrected on site: containers returned to ware washing to be cleaned.
– In the produce department, a manual slicer wheel had rust on the food contact surface (blades). Corrected on site: person in charge said it would be cleaned and new blades ordered.
– In the meat department, the thermometer stored and used in one of the meat cases had dried food debris on the food contact surface (probe). Corrected on site: inspector cleaned probe with alcohol wipe.
– The microwave in the dining area had dried food debris on all the surfaces of the inside cavity.
– Inside the Starbucks kiosk, a 3-vat sink was set up. There was 0 ppm of Quaternary Ammonia (no ware washing being performed at the time of inspection). Corrected on site: person in charge adjusted hose to sanitizing solution of 150 ppm (service tech being notified).
– No paper towels or other hand drying provisions at the produce department handwashing sink. Corrected on site: paper towels replenished.
-In the deli department on a wire shelving rack in the ware washing storage room, spray bottles with glass cleaner were hanging on the shelf pointing toward rolls of paper towels and a spray bottle of de-greaser was on the shelf touching a roll of paper towels. Corrected on site: spray bottles relocated to bottom shelf (no leakage detected).
-In a shopping cart filled with items ready to be marked down, there were shampoos and other chemicals next to packages of candy (no leakage detected).
– In the back storage room, there was a black plastic storage bin with items to be marked down with chemicals and food mixed together.
– On the clearance shelves next to the public bathrooms, there were shampoos, hair dyes, and other chemicals next to food items (no leakage detected). Corrected on site: person in charge directed an employee to seperate food items from chemical items.

– Notice of non-compliance issued. Follow up inspection scheduled.

– No violations.

Vidricksen Distributing, 1825 Bailey Rd. (January 10) FDA Contract Inspection
– No violations.

  1. Inpectuons REALLY. NEED ATTENTION at SPANGLES ON CRAWFORD!!
    BLACK MOLD ALL UNDER THE ICE MACHINE!!! This was brought to managments attwntion several times!!! Manager was VERY RUDE ABOUT IT!!!!
    PLEASE DO SOME MAJOR INSPECTIONS AT. THIS SPANGLES!!!
