Salina Woman Hospitalized After Wednesday Crash in Pawnee County

A Salina woman was hospitalized after a single vehicle crash in Pawnee County early Wednesday morning.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Ernest Sarles, 29, of Abilene, was driving a 1995 Chevy pickup west on K-156, seven miles west of Larned at about 4 a.m., when for unknown reasons, he crossed the center line, entered the south ditch and continued through the ditch, before ramping a driveway. The pickup landed in a wheat field, where it came to a stop.

Sarles was not injured, but a passenger, Audrey Amrine, 34, of Salina, was transported to Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Both Sarles and Amrine were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, according to the Highway Patrol.
