A Salina realtor has now joined the race for a seat on the Salina City Commission.
Owen Freiburger, owner and broker of NextHome Pro Realty, announced his candidacy on Friday via social media.
Freiburger is the current Chairman of the Salina Planning Commission and has served as a liasion on the Salina Board of Zoning Appeals.
Freiburger is now among several candidates running for Salina City Commission. Current City Commissioner Melissa Hodges is seeking another term, as is former Commissioner Aaron Householter. Joe Hay, who ran in the previous City Commission election, has also filed to run again.
Earlier this week, Salina businessman Frank Hampton and Mike Hoppock announced their intentions to run for a commission seat as well.
Current City Commissioner Jon Blanchard had previously announced that he would run again, but withdrew from the election Thursday to pursue another career opportunity.
Three City Commission seats will be open in the election. The terms of Hodges, Jon Blanchard, and current Mayor Kaye Crawford all expire this year.
The deadline to file for this year’s election is Thursday, June 1st at 12 p.m. A primary will be held, if necessary, on Tuesday, August 1st and the General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 7th.
