The Kansas Highway Patrol says Miguel Faudoa, 26, was driving a 2009 Ford Fusion south on Interstate 135 at mile post 46 at about 3:10 p.m., when a gust of wind blew the vehicle off the road.
The vehicle hit the mile post sign and came to rest in the median. Faudoa then continued south for about a half mile before stopping completely on the shoulder.
He was transported to Newton Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
Faudoa was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, according to the Highway Patrol.
