Murder charges have been requested against a Salina man in connection with the death of his infant son.
According to a release from the Salina Police Department, officers and paramedics were sent to a home at 919 N. 9th Street at 3:22 p.m. Monday in regards to an 11-month-old male that was not breathing. Immediately upon arrival, emergency responders began life-saving measures. The child was transported to Salina Regional Health Center and was pronounced deceased at approximately 4:15 p.m.
Information obtained during the course of an investigation led to the arrest of Michael Ray Hatfield, 42, the child’s father.
Hatfield was booked on requested charges of felony murder, aggravated endangerment of a child, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
An investigation into the child’s death is ongoing, according to the release.
