Radio Shack is closing its store at Salina’s Sunset Plaza.
Employees of the store tell The Salina Scoop they were informed of the closing on Saturday, but were not told when the store would be closing.
Radio Shack also closed its Salina Central Mall location over the weekend.
The Fort Worth, Texas-based company filed for bankruptcy for the second time in just over two years earlier this month and announced the closing of 552 stores. The closures will occur in two waves, with 187 closing immediately and another 365 closing by the first week of April.
A court filing listed the locations that are set to close. These stores have the “lowest sales velocity and highest rent,” according to the court filing.
The company said it will “continue to evaluate” the fate of its remaining 1,000 stores.
Along with the two Salina stores, Radio Shack will also close stores in El Dorado, Lawrence, Topeka and six Kansas City area stores.
