Oklahoma Man Hospitalized After McPherson County Crash

MCPHERSON COUNTY – An Oklahoma man was hospitalized after a two vehicle crash in McPherson County late Thursday afternoon.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Jake Klassen, 85, Inman, was driving a 1981 Ford pickup across U.S. Highway 56 southbound on 8th Avenue, five miles west of McPherson, at about 10:54 a.m.

At the same time, Marcus Wells, 25, Pawhuska, Okla., was driving a 2000 Freightliner semi eastbound on U.S. Highway 56, when he struck Klassen’s vehicle on the passenger side.

Wells was taken to McPherson Hospital for treatment of possible injuries, the extent of which were not immediately known. Klassen was not injured.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, according to the Highway Patrol.
