Mexican Citizen Indicted for Unlawfully Possessing Firearm in Lincoln County

A Mexican citizen has been indicted on charges of unlawfully possessing a firearm in the United States following his arrest in Lincoln County.

Cesar Humberto Melandez-Morales, 28, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm while in the United States. The crime is alleged to have occurred April 5, 2017, in Lincoln County, Kansas.

If convicted, Melandez-Morales faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000. The Kansas Highway Patrol and ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations investigated. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brent Anderson is prosecuting.

Melandez-Morales is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. This indictment merely contain allegations of criminal conduct.
