Magnolia Road Bridge Reopened to Unrestricted Traffic

On Monday, April 3rd, City of Salina staff posted signs limiting the weight of commercial vehicles that may cross the Magnolia Road bridge west of Markley Road.

During the restriction, structural engineers evaluated the bridge and determined that it can continue to bear legal loads.

On Monday, April 10th, City of Salina staff removed signs, reopening the bridge to unrestricted traffic.

The bridge was built in 1958 in conjunction with the project to build Salina’s flood protection levee and relocate the Smoky Hill River from the middle of Salina. The bridge was owned and maintained by Saline County until that section of Magnolia Road was annexed into the City of Salina’s limits in 2012.
