According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Merlin J. Kuder, 34, Syracuse, was driving a 2002 Ford F-150 eastbound on I-70, about a mile and a half west of Brookville Road, at about 11:40 p.m. Saturday, when he attempted to avoid a slow moving vehicle in the right lane.
While trying to avoid the slower vehicle, Kuder moved his pickup left and lost control. The Ford then entered the north shoulder before Kuder over-corrected to the right and entered a four-wheel skid. The F-150 rotated clockwise and began to roll as it entered the south ditch, coming to a rest facing westbound at the fence line.
Kuder was taken to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment of his injuries, the extent of which were not immediately known. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the Highway Patrol.
