Kansas Artist’s Work to be Displayed at Salina Public Library

SALINA – Kansas artist and Salina local, Paul Sommers’ collection of bucolic Kansas scenes in watercolor will be on display in Salina Public Library’s Gallery 708 through February 9 during library open hours. An art reception is scheduled on February 2 between 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Paul Sommers spent his youth growing up on a Kansas farm. The images of the surrounding countryside inspired his childhood hobby of sketching. In adulthood Sommers worked as a counselor at a military school, during which he enrolled in a watercolor class. Watercolor brought back his love of sketching. After retiring his artistry blossomed into professional commissions and art shows including a Christmas cover of the magazine Hoard’s Dairyman featuring one of his watercolors.

Paul Sommers says of his work, “I hope you find my artwork pleasing and refreshing, and that you are reminded of the simple beauty that abounds in our little part of the world. It is indeed an honor when people select my work for their home, family or friends.”
