Hutchinson Woman Hospitalized After Two Vehicle Accident in McPherson County

MCPHERSON COUNTY – A Hutchinson woman was hospitalized after a two vehicle accident in McPherson County early Monday morning.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Nellie B. Purdue, 62, and Jamesha J. Sanders, 23, Fort Worth, Tex., were both traveling southbound on K-61 Highway, about a mile and a half northeast of Inman, just before 7 a.m., when Purdue said she “dozed off” behind the wheel of a 2004 Mercury station wagon and rear-ended Sanders’ 2010 Chevrolet passenger car.

Purdue was transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for treatment of her injuries, the extent of which were not immediately known. Sanders, and four passengers in her vehicle, Sidney J. Thomas, 19, Fort Worth, Tex., Kennedy A. Bonner, 17, Chandler, Ariz., Jynia E. Sanders, 17, Fort Worth, Tex., and Kiaundria M. Williams, 16, Fort Worth, Tex., were not injured.

All occupants of both vehicles were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the Highway Patrol.
