Georgia Man Injured in Ellsworth County Accident

ELLSWORTH COUNTY – A Georgia man was injured in a two vehicle accident in Ellsworth County late Monday morning.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, John Q. Green, 42, Augusta, Ga., was driving a 2015 Kenworth semi westbound on Interstate 70, when he slid off the roadway into the median and became stuck in the mud near mile post 209, 3 1/2 miles east of K-232 Highway, just before 11:45 a.m.

Green’s semi was stationary in the median when a 2000 Freightliner semi driven by George R. Kern, 67, Topeka, slid off the roadway and into the median and struck Green’s semi.

Green was taken to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment of his injuries, the extent of which were not listed in the KHP accident report. Kern was not injured.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said Kern was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident, but Green had taken his off after becoming stuck in the mud.
