According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2007 Nissan Murano driven by Jeremy J. Swift, 37, of Loveland, Colorado, had pulled into a rest area on Interstate 135 at around 5 p.m. When the vehicle pulled back onto the interstate, it began traveling south, weaving in and out of traffic, and straddling the center line.
The Murano passed a semi and rear-ended a 2008 Toyota Camry driven by John L. Kasper, 65, of Wilson, near mile marker 48, about 1 1/2 miles North of Moundridge. Swift’s Murano spun into the median and crossed into north bound traffic before going back into the median, while Kasper’s Camry spun off into the west ditch.
Swift and three occupants of his vehicle, Erin Garcia, 36, Carlos Garcia, 10, and Isabella Garcia, 5, all of Loveland were transported to the McPherson with minor injuries. Kasper and an occupant of his vehicle, Belinda Kasper, 63, of Wilson, were taken to Newton Medical Center for minor injuries.
All five were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
