Nearly 200 people gathered in the Smoky Hill Museum, for a First Thursday presentation.
Dr. Timothy Weston, Historic Preservation Office Archaeologist for the Kansas Historical Society, spoke on a popular area tourist destination.
His presentation, Coronado Heights: Myth, Oral Tradition, and a Personal Connection, explored the connection between Coronado Heights before it was such, and the tourist destination we all know today.
Dr. Weston spoke on the history of Coronado Heights, as it relates to Spanish Conquistador Francisco Velasquez Coronado.
Those in attendance also heard about the actual building of Coronado Heights, which took place during the Great Depression, and how it economically impacted local families.
