Cut Fiber Optic Line Causes 911 Systems Outage Across Kansas

Officials say a cut fiber optic line caused numerous 911 systems to go down across Kansas late Saturday evening.

An AT&T fiber optic line was cut at around 7:30 p.m. causing outages in several counties. Among them were Saline, Clay, Dickinson, Ottawa, Ellsworth, Russell, Lincoln, Sedgwick, Reno, Osborne, Sheridan, Cheyenne, Norton, Rawlins, Nemaha and Sherman.

911 services in Saline County were fully restored and running normally by 11 p.m., according to the Salina Police Department.

AT&T has not said how the line was cut.
