Chance of Snow and Wintry Mix Friday

A late season winter event with accumulating snow and some sleet is expected on Friday across parts of Central and Eastern Kansas.

There is a chance of rain transitioning to a brief wintry mix then snow on Friday afternoon and evening. Accumulations of less than 2 inches expected in Central Kansas with much lighter accumulation, if any, in South Central and Southeast Kansas.

  • Tonight – Increasing clouds, with a low around 36. Northeast wind 8 to 10 mph.
  • Friday – A chance of rain before 1 p.m., then rain and snow likely, possibly mixed with sleet between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., then snow likely after 3 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 38. Breezy, with a north northeast wind 15 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow and sleet accumulation of around an inch possible.
  • Friday Night – A 20 percent chance of snow before 1 a.m. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 13. Blustery, with a north wind 16 to 21 mph decreasing to 7 to 12 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 29 mph.
  • Saturday – Mostly sunny, with a high near 40. North wind 5 to 9 mph becoming south southeast in the afternoon.
  • Saturday Night – A 30 percent chance of snow after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26.
  • Sunday – A slight chance of snow and sleet before 9 a.m., then a slight chance of rain between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 56. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
