Cedars Wellness Center in McPherson to Host Music Program

MCPHERSON – The Cedars Wellness Center will host a music program on Wednesday, May 30, 7 p.m., featuring McPherson College students Lillian Oeding and Kento Aizawa. The program is free and open to the public. Both students study with Gregg Walker, instructor of woodwinds, at McPherson College.

Oeding is from Wichita where she studied flute for seven years with Amy Hoffman at Friends University. She has many flute achievements including repetitive appearances in the Tack Flute Competition, KMEA District Band, KMEA District Orchestra and Kansas State Band. She is a former member of the Wichita Youth Symphony and currently plays in the Salina Symphony. Oeding is first-chair flute in the McPherson College Band. She plans to major in graphic design with a minor in music.

Aizawa, a native of Japan, moved to Oregon in fourth grade and started playing clarinet at age 12. He has received professional instruction from Dunja Jennings, Jay Steinberg and Sarunas Jankauskas. Aizawa has performed as principal clarinet with numerous honor ensembles and youth symphonies and currently plays in the Salina Symphony. He is also first-chair clarinet in the McPherson College Band. Aizawa plans to major in mathematics with a minor in business administration.
