ROOKS COUNTY – An arrest has been made in connection with the death of a Plainville woman.
According to a media release from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, an investigation conducted by the KBI, the Plainville Police Department, and the Rooks County Sheriff’s Office has led to an arrest in connection to the death of Alexis Garcia, 24.
Law enforcement officers were sent to a home in the 400 block of Commercial Street in Plainville at 4:50 a.m. Monday. Upon arriving at that location, officer discovered a female victim deceased. The Plainville Police Department, Chief Troy Rudman, requested KBI investigative assistance shortly after the discovery.
Alifonso Eduardo Garcia, 35, husband of Alexis Garcia, was arrested at 5 a.m. Monday by the Plainville Police Department for first degree murder. Formal charges will be determined by the Kansas Attorney General’s office.
Alexis Garcia was an officer at the Norton Correctional Facility’s Stockton Unit.
Alifonso Garcia is currently at Salina Regional Health Center and is being held on a million dollar bond.
This investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time, according to the release.
