Above Normal Temperatures, Elevated Fire Danger Tuesday

High temperatures will climb above normal on Tuesday.

Strong south winds and low relative humidity values will result in very high to possibly extreme grassland fire danger across the entire area Tuesday afternoon. A fire weather watch has been issued for most of south central Kansas. Outdoor burning is discouraged.

  • Tonight – Partly cloudy, with a low around 23. Southeast wind 6 to 10 mph.
  • Tuesday – Sunny, with a high near 57. Breezy, with a south wind 11 to 16 mph increasing to 20 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 34 mph.
  • Tuesday Night – Partly cloudy, with a low around 34. South wind 5 to 15 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 29 mph.
  • Wednesday – Mostly sunny, with a high near 54. North wind 6 to 9 mph.
  • Wednesday Night – Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. North wind 6 to 8 mph.
  • Thursday – Partly sunny, with a high near 40.
  • Thursday Night – Partly cloudy, with a low around 19.
  • Friday – Mostly sunny, with a high near 46.
  • Friday Night – Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30.
  • Saturday – A slight chance of rain after noon, mixing with snow after 5 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 48. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
